The shaft is blackthorn, a highly sought-after wood, treasured for its fascinating grain patterns. The blackthorn has had its bark removed, the wood reduced to produce the very smooth finish and then polished to give a beautiful sheen to the shaft. The grain pattern is clearly visible. The derby handle is made from maple wood, and the stick is fitted with a smart brass collar. The derby handle offers excellent support to the hand, and may be hooked over the arm when not in use. Fitted with a metal ferrule. Available in ladies (87cm) and gents (92cm) sizes.
